Well… I went out for a cruise the day after I installed aux fuel pump but it was not to be. I made it 1/4 mile and the bug died. I was not getting gas to the carb reliably or at all. I checked filters, I finally took the pump out and everything worked.
First I checked multiple points for gas in the line, sometimes it would be there sometimes not. The hose and pump,setup initially was this when it stalled on me.
I then tried a different filter and changing the line, I thought the angle was too steep and either kinking the line or it was too steep to fill up the filter? But that didn’t help I removed it and then everything worked.
After a convo with the dogs I swapped in 90° NPT connectors, shortened the hoses and it is purring like a cat.
I will put in a clamp on the filter when it arrives to secure the filter to the bulkhead. I think I’d need to move the filter closer to the pump and then extend the tank to filter hose. I have to admit, now that it works I don’t really want to change anything!
FWIW O’Reilly has these in stock, but they are behind the counter. It is easier to order them online and pick up in store.
