Just a quick note on gas caps. I was on a mission to make the beetle not smell like gas, after replacing the fuel tank sending unit I still had some odors. The internet told me to replace the cap. I ordered one from JBugs but it leaked from a malformed seal. I ordered another one from Wolfsburg West and it has a much better seal on my tank. Obviously your mileage may vary and it is cool that these companies even exist to offer us options on old bugs.
You’ll notice the JBugs on the left is a higher profile and has the vents/relieve cutouts. The Wolfsburg West is lower profile.
The cork gasket on the left kept deforming on me. The WW on the right works for my tank and creates a better seal.
You can see the cork gasket coming out on the JBugs one. This could be because of so many reason in a 51 year old car. Almost completely gas smell free…
