I thought a bit of preventative maintenance would be to replace the shift coupler in the 66 beetle.
Assuming it would be easy, but also not wanting to hook anything up incorrectly I took a pic of everything taken apart.
As usual I disconnected the battery first.
There is a cover above the serial number, a medium phillips holds it on.
To my surprise it was already using this part! And no play or slop in the rod. The only thing missing was the safety wire. I replaced that and went for a ride.
I guess we’ll call it good. I have a spare HD Urethane coupler if I need it.
