I can’t fault the previous owner for venting the oil to the ground with a little chrome pipe. However this drips oil on my driveway and I am not too psyched on that. There seems to be two schools of thought on the forum with – you have to fix it / who cares. I replaced the missing oil hose and the air filter while I was at it. If it causes problems I’ll just disconnect it and put the old tube back on. Why replace the air cleaner assimbly? The mount had broken already and I repaired it with a rivet, so I took this opportunity to replace it before the rivet broke off and got sucked into the carb.
First I had to grab some parts from the CarQuest to put a 90° bend in to clear the carb.
EMPI sells breather hose in 1′ lengths. I bought 3 feet, I could have gotten away with 1′. but it is cheap enough.
I hope this setup stays secure, it looks the part and will keep that stain off my driveway!
Also while I was at it, I cleaned up the tool corner of the garage and the workbench is clean as a whistle.
