Months ago I installed a negative cut off switch from NAPA. While it worked I never loved it, I had to remove the back seat to get to it and when I put on the new negative ground strap from Wolfsburg West it would not fit anymore. There was an ad on The Samba for product from Super Beetle Solutions that I had been eyeing since I got the beetle that looked nice. It is pricey at $120, so I went to NAPA to buy all the parts and make my own. You know what? It is a deal at $120 especially when you consider it includes all the parts to specific to the beetle. This is no cheap switch, it is hefty with a nice finish.
It was an hour or so to install because I have aftermarket rear seat kick panels. With stock it would be even less.
The detailed instructions and Hot VW article cover the install really well. I lined it up, checked for clearance and drilled a hole.
Then you just tighten it up and check the figment.
Then you just attach the wires, although pro tip, put your beetle up on ramps before you disconnect the battery because you will be replacing the battery to starter wire.
All buttoned up and done with this super slick look.
