This is not a repair so much as a making-my-life-easier upgrade. When I was swapping out coils the clamp was attached with nuts, bolts and washers in a very awkward to reach spot. In the end, they just go through the chrome on the side of the Baja engine bay. Seems like a great spot for a nutzert!
How will a nutzert solve this for me? Well a nutzert or rivnut is a threaded rivet you press into a hole, eliminating the need to contort yourself to put the coil bracket on. I have a kit from NAPA that is pictured below.
When you press them in they hold against the metal making your life easier. FWIW the Dorman nutzert refills have grooves on them, making a stronger bond than the smooth ones that come with the NAPA kit.
