I was trying to determine where the gas smell in the beetle was coming in from. Looking at the sending unit showed the rubber boot on the original VDO unit was ripped and leaking.
The Wolfsburg West unit looked perfect and it included screws. I added new seals and reinstalled. Everything went smooth and that was fixed. This was maybe a 5 minute job. And the gauge seems pretty accurate to me.
