Y’all are going to get tired of posts pointed at the fuel pump. But I had noticed gas on the top of the fuel pump under where the lines attached.
So knowing that was totally dangerous, I decided to replace the clamps with 11-13mm (1/4″) fuel injection clamps. These, as I understand do not cut or over squish the hoses. Plus the do not “ovalize” at the worm drive gear.
The post on the bolt was a touch too long so I clipped it and sanded the edge with a file.
Then we go back to clamping the hoses and removing them. I reattached everything with the new fuel injection clamps and started it up… and gas was leaking from the carb hose side.
The problem, as far as I can tell is the old hose clamps smooshed the hose too much and was not allowing for a good seal. So I trimmed that and reinstalled. Everything is fine now.
I’ll replace the fuel line/hose from the filter to the pump when I replace the filter. But a shake down ride has no leaks!
Obviously I will watch it like a hawk and for at least the next month I’ll assume it is leaking and about to burn up.
