Adjusting the Choke

I am still not 100% on why when the beetle is engine is hot I get so/so starting. When the engine is cold, even below freezing, it starts right up. I don’t need to give it any gas it just goes. When hot it can either start right up or struggle. So I decided to adjust the choke. I think it was open 100% even when cold. This is it ice cold. Following the Bentley manual and a few videos I adjusted it to 1/4″ when cold.

I loosened the 3 screws in the EMPI Pict 34 choke and moved it so it was about 1/4″ open when cold.

It still starts up great, and the hot engine starting is… maybe better. Here are some pics from a drive last night.

And a little video from the cruise.
