Last year I fixed the beetle indicator light in a what could be best be described as rube goldberg<\/a> manner. It worked, but I wanted to do something better and simplier. I decided to use two Grote Solid State relay modules and a Watson Street Works diode to get it back to normal-ish. Now lets be clear, this still requires the Roadmaster diodes from this post<\/a>, unless you are not worrying about adding emergency flashers, in that case, you can skip the diodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The diodes, which I just assume are off the shelf zener diodes in a nice package at a decent price go in line with the output of the flashers and in the case of the emergency light, on the Grote 44030 it has a wire just for this. I also used a Wolfsburg West plastic bulb holder from later beetles with an LED bulb to avoid the problem of the common positive of the speedometer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I could have used a Grote 44010 instead of the 44030 for the turn signals, but I thought this problem out wrong. So I just capped a wire I did not need on the turn signals 44030 relay. I printed this relay holder on a Bambu Labs A1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
