Almost 2 years ago I added Baja Design Amber Rock Lights<\/a> to my roof rack to use as hazards and driving lights. One a recent sunset drive the rear passenger side led left its mortal coil. Luckily Baja Designs has a 5 year warranty so I removed it and opened an RMA. I took this time to right the wrongs of the past. When I first put these on I hard wired them together and really heat shrunk the heck out them. That was mistake, it made them unserviceable. They were waterproof, but unserviceable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that established, I got to chopping things up. If this happened again I would want to be able to replace just one light. I checked the working light with a bench top power supply and it lit up like the sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now to check the dead light, no luck here. Proving it was not my wiring. If these lights have 50 hours on them I would be shocked. I do use them almost every time I drive the baja, having lights higher up during the waning hours of light makes you safer IMHO. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I invested in some weatherpack connectors and crimpers a while back, which seemed perfect for this! I added plugs to the old light and the spare I had while I wait for a warranty from Baja Designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I mounted the lights back on the rack so I could cut the 1 -> 2 pigtail to length. And then I stripped and crimped a weather pack connector on the wire on the roof. Look at this pic, why did I bring this many tools outside?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back in the garage I crimped the pigtail from to go from 1 wire to 2 lights. Can we take a minute to appreciate how clean that pigtail is! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plugged it in and tested <\/p>\n\n\n\n
