If for some reason you haven\u2019t figured it out, I am not an experienced auto mechanic. I’m mechanical, but cars are a new thing. But I\u2019m learning and I\u2019ve got buddies to ask. That being said, my buddy Fred was over and he suggested I clean the ever loving heck out of the leaky oil pump cover area and just run it as long as it takes in the driveway to get a leak. Last time I did not remove the crank<\/a> pulley when I did all this work. That made torque-ing the oil pump cover nuts difficult, which also might have been a problem. Since I was trying to get it as clean as possible I knew it had to be done and it was not as big a deal as I had thought. You need to loosen the alternator pulley as part of the problem, Franchers Upholstery<\/a> has a nice pulley tool that made this easier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the pulley off you can get access to the bolts on the oil cover plate and torque it to 14 ft\/lbs. once tightened up I got to cleaning. I used carb cleaner because oil is messy and hard to clean. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to get it super clean so I could look for the source of the leak. I\u2019m hoping it was that the top two bolts were well below torque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I took it on a 2 mile drive with no leaks. Wish me luck. Pretty cool sunset though I saw on my test drive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
