Shocking Revelation

I’ll admit, that title was a bit ridiculous. I was going for a cruise in my baja this morning and all the sudden I had some clunking, turns out my brand new Bilstein shock on the driver side front came loose. I strapped it in place and limped home.

Now I watched this video on YouTube from Heidi and Franny. With that I went to reinstall the shock, they had a shock that just easily compressed, mine did not. I use a piece of webbing to wrap around and compress it, the slide it under the mount. I added some loctite and tightened it up with a 10mm extra long wrench.

Did I have to do this twice? Yes, yes I did, because I put the rubber bump stop on upside down the first time… Short test drive and it seems fixed.
