Installing KC HiLites DayLighters

Well, I broke down and upgraded from the Hella ValueFit LEDs to KC HiLites 6” DayLighter Gravity G6 LEDs on the Baja. I have had these on my Jeep Gladiator for years and have been using them more and I like the pattern more than the Hellas. Plus, I mean KC’s are just something I have always liked. I put the driving beam on the front light bar and the spot beam on the roof rack. They light up the trail!

The kit includes the lights, mounting bolts and a wiring harness. I was surprised to see the wiring harness was kind of weak, the wires were not fully shrouded and they were not heat shrunk, just wrapped with electric tape. Ok, that is the one fault, everything else is nice.

The old lights sat pretty close to the nose.

When I first put the KCs on they were just too close. Flipping the mounts around fixed it.

This also free up one more spot in the SPod since they only use 2 wires unlike the Hella’s 3.

To the roof, well that was easy enough, I was able to free up one plug on the junction box. I did have to figure out what wires were in use since again, two wires instead of three.

I remembered correctly, #1 pin was negative!

I love the combo of the spot and driving lights.
